Text Encoding Initiative
for Knowledge Modeling

Since December 19, 2024, Keio Museum Commons (KeMCo) has served as a "Research Infrastructure Hub" under a subcontract from the National Institutes for the Humanities (NIHU), which was commissioned by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) to carry out the Program for Promoting Research and Development toward the Digital Transformation (DX) of the Humanities and Social Sciences. In this capacity, KeMCo has been advancing research and development on the structuring of text data. In addition, it has begun work on a project of the National Institute of Japanese Literature (NIJL), and activities concerning text data have been steadily emerging.

At the same time, colleagues both within and beyond the university have expressed interest in these initiatives and a wish to support them. We therefore launched TEIKeM (Text Encoding Initiative for Knowledge Modeling), a project that organically integrates these activities and pursues their further development.
